Health & Safety Policy Statement

Rocklawn Construction Ltd seeks to attain to the highest standards in health and safety in agreement with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, in particular section two.

We also undertake risk assessments under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regs.'99 to identify hazards in order to eliminate or control the risks.

We will ensure that we comply with all other legislation relevant to our day to day activities.

This Policy Statement will be shown to all employees so that everyone is aware of their legal responsibilities, as follows:

 

Employer

"To provide and maintain plant and systems of work that are, so far as is reasonably practicable, safe and without risks to health."

"To make arrangements for ensuring, so far as is reasonably practicable, safety and absence of risks to health in connection with the use, handling and storage and transport of articles and substances.."

"To provide such information, instruction, training and supervision as is necessary to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of employees."

"Any place of work under his control is maintained in such a condition as to be safe and without risks to health."

"The environment must be safe, and adequate facilities and arrangements for the welfare of the persons employed must be provided."

 

Employee

"Must take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself and others who may be affected by his acts or omissions at work."

"To co-operate with the employer as is necessary to enable him to comply with the law."

 

General

"No person shall intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interests of health, safety or welfare."

Overall responsibilties for the enforcing of this policy and the legal obligations as set out above lies with the Managing Director Mr M O' Neill.

The managing director has responsibility for ensuring that risk assessments are maintained, emergency arrangements are known and followed and that accidents are recorded and investigated as necessary.

He will also ensure that information as contained in this policy statement and the risk assessments are passed to all employees. A copy of the policy is kept in the company office.

Mr.M.O'Neill has direct responsibility on site for safe practice and for ensuring that the conditions provided are suitable and safe for work to be carried out.

Responsibility is also delegated to our foremen on various sites. They are responsible to understand the content of the risk assessmens, along with risks and controls for COSHH materials. Also to be familiar with the company method statement. They should ensure that work carried out from day to day complies with the risk assessment and method statement.

Where work practice does not conform to safety standards set out in the risk assessment, the foremen should rectify breaches with operatives, and take up the matters arising if necessary with Mr O'Neill.
